Get In TouchAbout the Show
Daisy Blooms is a coming-of-age sitcom dramedy with notes of religious satire about a devout Christian teen who finds herself caught between her gay-fearing religion and her newly found queer identity.
Her bubble is tight. Her self-righteousness is potent. She prays five times a day, makes straight A's, plays basketball, and has absolutely no idea why boys don't tempt her at all.
Daisy Blooms is based on creator Dajanaé Cole's real life — a comedic love letter to every queer person who grew up in the church, found themselves in a second adolescence, and is finally ready to laugh about it.
Tone & World
Bright, performative, structured. Purity rings, small groups, WWJD bracelets, holy snacks. Everything is fine. Everything is great. God is watching.
Richer, more complex. The questions she can't ask out loud. The feelings she doesn't have words for yet. The real Daisy underneath the white dress.
Heaven itself weighs in. Angels descend with tambourines. The visual style shifts when Daisy crosses between worlds — the audience feels the distinction.
Present-day Daisy narrates her adolescence. Her voice gives the audience hope that she grows — which makes every stumble all the more joyful to watch.
Why This Story
— Dajanaé Cole, Creator
Daisy Blooms is for the traumatized church kids. The overachievers. The ones who prayed the hardest and still ended up exactly who God made them to be. It is a comedic love letter to everyone in their second adolescence — and an invitation to find healing and truth long before its creator did.
Why This Story Matters
Daisy Blooms is a comedy. It is also a love letter to every young person who grew up believing they had to choose between who they were and who they were told God made them to be. These are not just statistics. These are people. Some of them are us.
Four Times More Likely
LGBTQ+ young people are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide than their peers — not because of who they are, but because of the rejection, shame and silence they are forced to carry. — The Trevor Project, 2024
39% Seriously Considered Suicide Last Year
Nearly 2 million LGBTQ+ young people ages 13–24 seriously consider suicide every year in the U.S. At least one attempts every 45 seconds. — The Trevor Project, 2024 National Survey
Double the Risk When Religion Is Used Against Them
LGBTQ+ youth whose parents used religion to say negative things about their identity had double the risk of attempting suicide — but those with affirming families had half the risk. Acceptance is not a kindness. It is a lifesaving act. — The Trevor Project Research Brief
"I want young people who watch this to find their healing and their truth long before I did."
— Dajanaé Cole, Creator
Daisy Blooms does not look away from this truth. It walks straight into it — with humor, with love, and with the deep belief that the right story in the right hands at the right moment can change whether someone feels alone. Representation is not a checkbox. It is a lifeline.
